Fall Quarter 2021 Scheduling Changes
Session Dates: August 16-September 30
We are beginning a new structure of class schedules at Sea Star, effective Fall Quarter 2021. This primarily affects our afternoon and evening classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
First of all, with our Fall Quarter 2021, Sea Star will return to classes that meet one day per week and Saturday classes return to the regular quarter instead of running a separate session.
To offer our swimmers a better learning experience, we will offer only one class level in each 30 minute period. There will be no different levels offered at the same time. What does this mean? If you have a Beginner and a Little Flipper, the classes will be at two separate times. Most other programs for children do this very successfully. For example, a tap student would not have class during a ballet class. Classes will be larger, but there will be either 2 or 3 teachers in each 30 minute class to maintain the same teacher/swimmer ratio.
With regard to convenience, in most situations we have scheduled a Beginner Swim or a Lap Swim class either before or after a Little Flippers/Barracudas class.
We have also decided to put 5 swimmers in each Lap Swim class. Because these swimmers are working more on stroke technique and endurance, we will have adequate room for them to swim increasingly longer distances, while teachers are correcting improper technique.
Because of the nature of our morning and Saturday classes, they will be largely unaffected by this new scheduling. Of note, we have combined our Little Flippers/Barracudas at 9:30 and 10, and there will be ONE class from 9:30-10. Also on Saturdays, Stroke and Conditioning will become part of our Jr. Select class. The class will meet from 11-12 on Saturday.
We are also offering something new this Fall--beginner classes for swimmers who are 9 and up. We have been inundated with requests for older kids, so now we have added those to our Saturday morning lineup. Your older child will be more comfortable in a class of his/her peers. We will have up to 5 swimmers in these classes.
If you are homeschooling, we are offering P.E. classes for homeschoolers. We require 4 swimmers minimum per class, and preferably all should be at the same level of ability. Please call our office for more information at 615-822-8800.
At Sea Star, we are excited to offer this new schedule. It will offer your swimmers even higher levels of excellence in aquatic education!
Class Schedule: All classes except Jr. Select are 30 minutes. Please note that some days/levels taught may change based on demand. Please read our Criteria for Changing Class Levels if you have questions about your swimmer's level. Teachers have the final say on which class is appropriate for a swimmer.
